Colour Pop! ~ Ottawa Family Photograper

When it feels like you’ve exhausted all of your favourite fall locations and want something different, hit up a graffiti wall!  It adds an instant pop of colour to your photos and let’s face it, it is just so fun!

The P family is always up for a little fun and I love that they were up for this adventure.  The art changes constantly, so you never know what you are going to get.  But the kids were so happy and just loved the gorgeous skull, classic car and what I’m calling, mother earth!

A New Family ~ Ottawa Newborn Photography

Newborn sessions are always so special and I love photographing them!

Capturing a new family in their own home, really makes the images feel intimate and unique to them, which is something I always aim for.  Wrapped in the warmth and comfort of their beautiful home, T & G were able love on their new baby girl, while I enjoyed every moment preserving these moments for them.

A Smile Like Sunshine ~ Ottawa Family Photographer

It has been a few years since I’ve photographed this wonderful family, and in that time, their little girl has grown from a tiny baby to a happy, cheerful girl full of some of the best smiles I’ve ever seen!

After rescheduling our session earlier due to rain, this day was calling for more of the same. I was truly worried that we were going to have to reschedule yet again.  But I think little I, and her smile, pushed the rain aside to make this incredible afternoon happen.

Too Cool for School ~ Ottawa Family Photographer

When you get to leave school early for a family photo session at a graffiti wall, how can you be anything but, “too cool for school”?

I’ve been photographing these boys their entire lives and it has been amazing to watch them grow up and see the relationship they have with each other.  They really know how to be silly and make each other laugh!

It is always a treat to meet up with the P family every year.  Each time I see the kids, they have grown a little more and have a little more to say to me! In almost ten years of photographing them, I’ve really come to enjoy our sessions and to catch up on what they have been doing for the last year.  I get to hear about their classes and friends, their likes and the things they are doing.  I think that is pretty special.

Worth the Wait ~ Jennifer Bailey Photography

If you got engaged in 2019, there was no way to plan and prepare for a wedding, knowing there was a global pandemic looming around the corner.  So many couples were faced with hard decisions in 2020, including Sarah & Nathan.  As their wedding date drew closer, in the summer of 2020 they made the decision to delay their day a full year, with the hope of better and safer times ahead.

And it was totally worth it in the end!  On a day that called for rain, not a drop was to be found. Surrounded by friends and family, on the beautiful Orchardview Wedding site, south of Ottawa, Sarah and Nathan said their “I do’s”.  The saying “all good things come to those who wait” certainly proved to be so for these two.  Congratulations S & N!

The Gang is All Here ~ Ottawa Family Photographer

2020 was a long and lonely year.  With a global pandemic spreading across the globe, celebrations of all kinds were postponed and/or put off.  The B Family and I, had planned this family photo session just before things started to close down and unfortunately, just like many other celebrations, we had to delay.  But it finally feels like 2021 is giving us something to look forward to once again, and top of the list is definitely family get togethers!  It is no surprise that extended family photo sessions are currently my most requested session.

When we discussed locations for their session, Dad B was sure his mom would like something with lots of bright and vivid colours.  Without even thinking about it, I suggested the Ornamental Gardens at the Experimental Farm.  It checked off all the boxes.  But the sweetest thing was finding out they had taken their wedding photos at the exact same location, many years earlier! That is something to celebrate!  And so is this e x t r a long blog post!

I thought it was pretty amazing – and fitting – when I found out that L&R had had their wedding photos taken here 48 years ago!

There is always one in every bunch!!

One More ~ Ottawa Maternity Photographer

The thrill and anticipation of adding a new baby to a family is always an exciting time for everyone close to them .  But I think it is even more exciting when it is a baby coming into your own family!  

With our family, finally altogether for the first time in over a year, we celebrated the soon to be newest member – a baby boy.  With a bunch of cousins, aunts and uncles, some very excited grandparents and not to mention the best big sister and parents anyone could wish for, this little boy is going to be surrounded by a lot of love (and a lot of noise!).  We cannot wait.

Product Show Off! ~ Jennifer Bailey Photography

Outside of Christmas Cards and Birth Announcements, Storyboards are by far my most purchased custom designed product.  They are a perfect way to display a collection of images from your session, without the need of a custom mat or multiple frames.

This 16 x 20 storyboard was delivered to my client last week and can I just say how hard it was to let it go?  I LOVE it.  They really are a wonderful way to tell your family’s “story”. 

Storyboards are available in a variety of sizes and come mounted for extra strength and stability.

Here Come’s the Snow! ~ Ottawa Family Photographer

After an extremely busy Christmas season, I am hoping to get caught up on my blogging.  Over the next week or so, keep an eye out for the last few sessions that capped off 2020! This will include my much loved, completely sold out, Christmas Card Porch Sessions!

To start things off, the M Family!  

Much of November, and even into December, proved to be unseasonably warm in Ottawa – to the point where we haven’t even seen much snow until now – the first week of January!  So it should come as no surprise that Mom S and I had to reschedule this season due to the wet weather.  Even on our new date and time, we really weren’t sure what was going to happen!  And sure enough, the clouds rolled in and a few wet sprinkles quickly turned into a windy, snowy, blizzard type snow fall. But we persevered and I’m so glad we did!  Winter snow scenes are a favourite of mine and if we can capture the snowing falling at the same time? Magic!

Thank you S, G, A and N for sticking it out with me!  I hope you love these images as much as I do!
