As the years go by, the kids have grown a little more and have a little more to share with me – new contacts, new braces, a classroom with desks! I don’t think we could have planned for a better day if we tried! The sun was shining, the leaves were stunning and the temperature was just perfect!
I caught up with K&J&I, along with I’s Grandma and Aunt on a gorgeous fall day, literally one year to the day that I last photographed them all! What a funny coincidence! A little older and wiser, but with a love for each other that has grown just as I has!

This session was pretty special for me to photograph. As the highest bidders on a custom family photo session at the Do It For Daron Hockey Tournament, run by the Nepean Girls Hockey Association, the H Family were the lucky winners of a session in the season of their choice. On top of their generous bid, I was also excited to see them as the winning family, as our daughters have all played hockey together!
Mom loves the fall, so we set a date in September…only to have soaring temperatures and green trees. Oh well. Best laid plans. Despite the summer like heat and sun, we had a great time in the trails capturing their amazing family.

This mom and kids family session has been a long time in the making! But with daughter H’s imminent departure for her first year of university, we knew we had to make it happen and fast!
Mom’s always notice the passage of time – it goes by quickly – so I’m glad we had a chance to celebrate the three of them just before the nest empties. We often prioritize photos when they are younger, but this stage is just as important. They are on the cusp of adulthood and the days of living all together, changes. These memories are incredibly special and I’m honoured to have preserved this time for them.

I know I’ve said it before, but it really is special when a family comes back to you, year after year, to capture their family memories. I’ve been photographing the W family since the kids were just toddlers and now here they are starting to think about their own futures. So grown up! But also make you question, “where does the time go?”
We had a beautiful late summer evening to capture these images. The light was absolutely stunning and the pesky bugs weren’t too bad, so I’d say it was a win!

This newborn session felt like a real full circle moment for me! I have had the privilege of photographing S&N’s engagement session, wedding and now their first baby! Baby N was a delight to meet. Just hitting his one month birthday, we saw lots of facial expressions, big eyes, yawns and finally that perfect newborn sleep. What a perfect addition to their family!

This was a really special day.
On the most beautiful of April days, in an intimate ceremony with family and close friends in attendance, Linda and Hugh made it official and tied the knot! It was a lovely ceremony that included the Groom singing to his bride and their children speaking a few words from the heart to bless the union. I felt their families love, witnessed their laughter and heard the light poking of fun, that only family can get away with. I felt privileged to be part of their day.

When I shot at the graffiti wall a few weeks ago, I just knew I had to bring the M Family here for their yearly photoshoot. As soon as we rounded the corner, their faces lit up and I knew I got it right! Mom loves skulls and the kids are a pretty creative bunch. With the art and vibe, it felt like we were shooting an album cover. So much so, I had a hard time getting the D12, “My Band” lyrics out of my head. It’s a definite ear worm.
As usual, I love this family and I think we picked a great spot.

I have had the honour of photographing the G Family for many many years now. I’ve watched them grow up in front of my lens, during all seasons of the year – mom has booked them all! While together, we couldn’t help talking about how much the kids have changed and all the exciting things happening in each of their worlds. Time moves fast, and mom gets it.
Did you know that this generation, with our cell phones in our pockets, is the most photographed generation ever, but have very few printed photos to show for it? What will they pass down to their kids? How will they look back on their family memories as technologies change? Show their grandchildren?

The G family understands this. Their house is full of the photos we have taken together and I can’t help but smile when I see all their sweet faces proudly displayed. It gives children a sense of belonging and a confidence that they know they are loved.
So, I will say it again.

When I arrived home after our session, mom sent me a photo from one of our first times together. (this is a photo of a photo) Gah! Where does the time go? I had to include it in this post, just to show how time marches on, when you might not be looking. But wow, to have this reminder displayed everyday is the most precious thing ever. I love what I do.
